LVDTs for Linear Displacement
Measurements
LVDT is an abbreviation for Linear Variable Differential
Transformer. The basic unit consists of a primary coil
and two secondary coils wound on a coil form. A
ferromagnetic core couples the electromagnetic field of
the primary coil to the secondary coils. Differencing the
output between these two coils will result in a voltage
proportional to the relative movement of the core versus
the coils.
A complete line of DC-DC and AC-AC LVDTs is available.
Measurement ranges start at full stroke displacement of
0.010 to 60 inches. Standard configurations include high
temperature, high pressure, small body and low cost
versions.
For more than 30 years, Trans-Tek, Inc. has been providing the very best linear and angular displacement and linear velocity transducers in the business.

Gaging LVDTs
Trans-Tek Gaging LVDTs are available in ranges from 0.01 to 20 inches.
AC-AC and DC-DC versions are available. Trans-Tek manufacturers
three different lines of Gaging Transducers capable of measuring up to
20 inches. Gaging transducers are often selected over free-unguided
LVDTs because a hard connection can not be made to the moving object.
All units consist of a spring loaded shaft guided through a phosphorous
bronze, leaded bearing. A hardened steel tip will contact the object to be
measured.

Trans-Tek, Inc. from Connecticut, USA has built an outstanding reputation for
providing industry leading Linear, Angular Displacement and Linear Velocity
Transducers. The main focus has been linear displacement sensors based on
LVDT (Linear Variable Differential Transformer) technology.
When it comes to solving displacement or stroke or positioning measurement
challenges the Trans-Tek engineers, with their extensive experience, will find
the right position or velocity sensor to meet the customer's requirements. The
complete production facility is geared towards short lead times - whether it's for
a standard or custom sensor solution. The Research & Development (R&D)
program is continuously expanding the product line to address many industrial
applications.
For over three decades, Trans-Tek has helped hundreds of OEM customers
and end-users develop the perfect sensing solution for their application. In
support of the customers, the Trans-Tek formula for success involves three key
steps:
- educate on the fundamentals of all our transducers
- highlight the critical specifications of our products, and
- compare them to other sensor technologies, as needed
The products have been extensively used in many demanding and rigorous
applications such as aerospace, medical, motor assembly, flight simulators
and plastics industry to name a few.
