Madison Company's new Hydrostatic Pressure Level Sensors are approved to UL/cUL913 (CSA
157) Class I Div 1, Groups C and D for use in intrinsically safe areas with an approved barrier. The
level sensors are ruggedly constructed from high-strength stainless steel. They are compatible with a
wide range of liquids and are ideal for such applications as ground water level depth measurement;
concrete dams; liquid tanks; gasoline and diesel fuel tanks; irrigation; and waste water canals. They
can be simply installed - just throw them to the bottom of the tank or canal! They measure the
difference between the surface pressure and the bottom pressure. The difference in pressure is an
indication of the amount of liquid in the tank/canal! This pressure differential is converted into a
proportional electrical signal. This electrical signal can be 4 - 20mA or 0 - 5V.
Madison's Pressure Sensors utilize a unique diaphragm technology and solid state design that
provide high accuracy, reliability and versatility in various vessel configurations with liquid pressure
up to 100 PSIG or depths of approximately 250' (depending on the liquid's density). Other benefits
include a wide operating temperature range and excellent EMI/RFI protection.
