Penny & Giles has used a specialized Hall effect device to construct a sensor that accurately
measures rotary position or angle or rotary displacement of an adjacent piece on where the magnet
is placed. The air gap between the magnet and the sensor can be up to 7 mm without any change in
the sensor output. The stainless steel sensor base plate is completely encapsulated in a highly
durable engineered polymer. The ensures that the product is completely sealed to IP69K (unlimited
submersion in water). The product has a measurement range of 20° to 360°, independent dual
outputs for double redundancy and a 12bit or 0.025% resolution of the measurement range. The
sensor can be supplied with ratiometric analog or PWM or absolute analog outputs. The NRH280
non-contact sensor is very small at less than 2 inches in size which is ideally suited for applications
where space is restricted.
