Fluid dispensing valve application guide
Syringe/pinch tube valve
• Use for applications where work life is short or clean up is difficult.
Spool valve – The Spool valve is designed for high pressure
applications and high viscosity materials such as RTVs, silicones,
greases and solder masks.
- Handles viscosities from 5,000 to 1,000,000 centipoise (cps).
- Low precision, high volume, high flow rate, high pressure.
- Can handle filled materials to some extent; heavy fill could
cause interference with shut off and could lead to leaking.
- Abrasive particles will damage the spool and seals.
- Stainless steel and Delrin® versions are available.
- Spring close for fail-safe operation in case pressure shuts
down.
- Can be used with dual air for higher cycling and better
repeatability
Diaphragm valve – The Diaphragm valve is designed to
dispense low to medium viscosity materials and is excellent
for cynoacrylates, anaerobics, UV adhesives and MEK.
- Handles viscosities from 1 to 5,000 cps.
- Use for moisture sensitive materials such as
cynoacrylates because diaphragm seal does not
introduce air and moisture.
- Use for materials that cannot contact metal such as
UV adhesives.
- Good for aggressive materials as the wetted path is
UHMW and Delrin® or PTFE.
- Will not handle abrasives or filled material well.
- Spring close for fail-safe operation.
- Spring can be removed for higher cycling and better
repeatability.

Needle valve – The Needle valve is excellent for a wide range of shot sizes
and materials such as adhesives, epoxies, silicones, inks and lubricants.
- Handles viscosities from 1 to 100,000 cps.
- Use for precision shot dispensing.
- Can be used for a wide range of materials.
- Will not handle fill particles or abrasives well.
- Stainless steel and anodized aluminum available.
- Spring close for fail safe operation.
- Can be used with dual air for higher cycling and better repeatability.
Spray valve – The Spray valve is pneumatically actuated and use air pressure to
dispense low to medium viscosity materials such as lubricants, solvents, inks and
conformal coatings.
- Can handle viscosities from 1 to 1,000 cps.
- Cannot handle filled materials well.
- Can be adjusted to a fine mist.
- Use with conformal coatings and oils.
- Stainless steel and anodized aluminum available.
- Spring close for fail-safe operation.
- Can be used with dual air for higher cycling and better repeatability.

Auger valve – The Auger valve has been designed for medium to high viscosity
material filled fluids such as solder pastes and urethanes.
- Can handle viscosities from 30,000 to 500,000 cps.
- Use for solder paste, encapsulants, surface mount adhesives and masks.
- Can handle filled materials well.
- Special configurations available for abrasive materials.
- Can be controlled for high precision dispensing.
- On-the-fly, electronically controlled adjustment.
- Multiple configurations available for different material and application needs.
