Flowmetrics is a leading manufacturer of turbine,
rotameters, positive displacement flowmeters
and associated flow electronics suitable
for liquids and gases.

Turbine flowmeter operation: The turbine flow meter is a volume sensing
device, which senses fluid or gas flow. The design is based on a freely
suspended turbine rotor, which in turn is rotated by the flow or fluid or gas
through the meter body. An external pick off senses the passing of each rotor
blade, generating an electrical pulse and hence a frequency output. The
frequency is directly proportional to the fluid's velocity, which in turn is
proportional to the flow rate of the fluid or gas.

This is an ideal flow measurements for low viscosity fluids. It also has a very
high response time as the rotor has low inertia and suitable for measuring
fluctuating (i.e., pulsating) flow. Turbine flow meters can easily be
manufactured to operate at
cryogenic temperatures or at  temperatures up to
1000°F.

They are used in aerospace, natural gas, hydraulics, pharmaceuticals and
food applications.
